Introduction

After nearly 15 years of civil war, Burundi has emerged to a state of fragile peace. Neighboring Rwanda has set a tone of expectation with its development since the 1994 Genocide and many are willing to help Burundi achieve the same. Independents and organizations alike are joining in the effort to break down the political, religious, and tribal barriers which paralyzed the country during the war. They are anxious to begin building peace.

New Generation is seen as one pioneer of this cause as they strived to make a space for everyone. Founder, Dieudonne Nhahimana was moved to action by the reality of poverty exhibited in children living on the street. The haze of war had lifted, leaving behind a sobering scene of lost, hurt, and hungry people. Dieudonne looked around and instead, pictured a future where each starving soul became a new creation, unified in Christ, having one father and one identity. He could see that within a context where people had nothing but faith in God, it was possible make this transformation.
